R&P is very pleased to announce that Ms. Yan (Connie) Chen has joined our team. Connie has a strong background in the retail industry, providing legal support to international brands in China. In recent years she has pivoted towards data privacy and cyber-security. Connie supports multinational clients on building data compliance systems, perform data assessments, and complete filings with the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC).

Connie started her career as a labor arbitrator in Guangzhou, before moving into private practice. She worked for a domestic law firm and two international law firms, before joining Italian chocolate brand Ferrero as in-house legal counsel. She then moved to US apparel brand GAP, before returning to private practice at R&P.

Connie’s specialties fit well with R&P’s support of international companies investing in China. She will contribute to two of the firm’s key focus areas:

1. Providing legal support to international retailers and brands that are expanding their business in(to) China.
2. Supporting international companies on Chinese data privacy compliance.
