Art is Senior Counsel at R&P with 16 years’ experience in China. Art began his legal career at the New York law firm Schulte Roth & Zabel working on private equity deals. He moved to China in 2007 to work in the Beijing office of Morrison & Foerster, an international law firm with headquarters in San Francisco. At Morrison & Forester and now R&P, Art has advised numerous foreign technology, manufacturing, and consumer companies on compliance, data regulations, and structuring their investments and operations in China.
From 2011 to 2017 Art was Asia Pacific General Counsel at the semiconductor software design company Cadence Design Systems (NASDAQ: CDNS). He is also the former Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce’s Legal Committee in Shanghai and a frequent speaker on cross-border China legal issues.
Art got his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, his JD from George Washington University, and his MBA from the University of Southern California (USC). He is fluent in written and spoken Chinese.
